Imagining how you’ll talk about your masterpiece motivates me to work hard to get it right and use top-quality materials so it can last for centuries.
To create the image, I work from the best information available. For Karvia Kirkko it was a postcard and some snapshots. For the Miller Barn series, I researched what wildflowers would be in bloom. For portraits I usually do the photography if the subject is available.
In all cases, the photography is reference-only; I construct the image using traditional methods. You’ll have a good idea of the final painting before I touch canvas. As I go along you’ll see progress photos. (See examples on the Works in Progress Page.) How long? No limit, no fine print.
